In order to protect the Olympic Park and at the same time be able to respond to changing requirements, a landscape and urban planning framework was developed in 2011. The framework plan serves as a guideline for all planning in and around the park and aims to preserve the outstanding design quality of 1972 while identifying opportunities for further development of the Olympic Park.

About the framework plan

The design manual explains the design intentions and provides technical recommendations on the topics of architecture, landscape, small-scale architecture, signage, colour, typography and symbols. Since 2015 it serves as a guide and orientation aid in the preparation of concrete plans or competitions.

About the design manual

‘50 Years of the Olympic Park – Inspiration for Munich's Future’ was the title of the 2022 annual exhibition organised by the Department of Urban Planning and Building Regulations. The exhibition focused on the Olympic Park and its buildings, featuring models and original exhibits. A special publication entitled ‘50 Years of the Olympic Park’ was released to mark the occasion.
