Why we should apply

The Munich Olympic Park was the grand stage for the XX Olympic Summer Games in 1972. With its futuristic tent roof, undulating topography, and deliberately open design, the park symbolizes a new beginning for a democratic society. Today, this total work of art – combining architecture and landscape design – stands as a model of successful post-event use and remains a beloved destination for people of all ages. With its application for UNESCO World Heritage status, Munich aims to preserve and further develop the Olympic Park and the values it represents for future generations. Moreover, modern cultural heritage is still underrepresented on the UNESCO World Heritage List.
